"I was shocked to learn that the [Erie] area had no community college. Education is a critical component for economic development throughout Pennsylvania, and community colleges play a vital role in serving as a bridge between high school and four-year institutions for certain students, as well as preparing individuals
for careers that don’t require a bachelor’s degree. Community colleges also play a crucial role in lifelong learning.
"Learning is not a once and be done with it endeavor. To remain competitive requires a lifetime of learning and skills development. Adults who lose their jobs, at whatever point in their careers, require the resources of a community college to help them learn the subject matter or skills necessary to move into the next career. Erie would do well to move on this initiative quickly.”

Community & Economic Development
